PRE APPRENTICESHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
For the second year in a row the Richmond Electricians' JATC has been awarded a federal grant for bringing more minorities, females, and veterans in to our electrical apprenticeship program. The program is designed to attract applicants who normally would not apply for our apprenticeship, or who may not be prepared to take our apprenticeship aptitude test. We have 12-15 spots available for this program. Applicants who are selected and complete all the requirements of the Pre Apprenticeship will get direct entry in to our apprenticeship program. The program will have a combination of classroom training and on the job training.
The program will start on October 29, 2019 and take approximately 6 months to complete. Pre Apprentices will attend school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 until 8:30 pm. After approximately 4 weeks of school, we will begin placing the Pre Apprentices to work with our electrical contractors. They will work all the hours in their normal work week, except hours that may interfere with scheduled classes. Sometimes overtime will be available. The Pre Apprentice pay rate will be at the CW1 pay rate ($10.55 per hour). The Pre Apprentices who complete the program will then be registered as apprentices in our apprenticeship program and will be bumped up to apprentice pay which is currently $15.73 per hour.
We will stop taking applications for Pre Apprenticeship on September 18, 2019.
