Applications: The Richmond Electricians' JATC inside wireman apprenticeship is for training construction electricians for the IBEW Local Electricians Union and Atlantic Coast Chapter, National Electrical Contractors Association, Inc. In order to apply you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Age – 17 years of age or older
- Valid Driver’s License
- High School diploma or a GED. (One year of Algebra is recommended or successful completion of a Tech Math course)
- Good Health and physically fit for the trade
Applications are taken in person only on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Richmond Electricians’ Training Center, between the times of 9:00am – 11:00am and 1:00pm – 3:00pm. There will be a $20.00 processing fee.
Items to bring with you: Driver's License, Social Security Card OR Birth Certificate, Official School Transcripts, and $20.00.

Candidates for apprenticeship are selected strictly on the basis of achievement, aptitude and interest; without regard to race, creed, national origin or sex.
Indentured Apprenticeship Acceptance Procedure:
- Completed Application
- Successful completion of JATC testing in Algebra and Reading Comprehension or 4000 hours documented work experience in the trade.
- Successful interview by Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee
- Pass the pre-employment drug screening test
Indentured apprentice wages based upon a percentage of the journeyman's hourly wage rate and advancements are made during the four years of apprenticeship.

An apprentice works under the direction of a competent journeyman who teaches the trade in the shop and at the job site.
Classes are one day per week (from 1:00pm - 7:00pm)
Instructors are capable, practical journeymen selected from the industry by the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.
